Spacemusic publishes podcasts since 2005 for a world wide audience, we've passed the 2 Million downloads (!) counting from the start back in february 2005. The Spacemusic Studio is the place where the magic happens, sometimes we use the mobile setup, mostly the equipment in Rotterdam. It takes a few steps before a show is finally published, here's a couple of things that belong to our daily 'podcast job' ;-)
- listening to lots of demo songs
- checking sites, inbox, postal and libraries and absorbing the best tracks
- compiling Spacemusic and Fresh Air! mixes, making sure 'the flow' is ok
- recording a show in the studio @ the mic
- taking care of the mix, sound quality, equalization, volumes, effects, final master-mix
- compressing to the right format, adding the rights tags, incl. artwork
- adding the created content to the RSS/XML feeds
- writing shownotes, including links to sites, stores etc.
- uploading the show mp3 file to our servers
- uploading the posts to our podcast feeds
- creating a post for the website, including the shownotes created earlier in the process
- cross-posting / announcing via Twitter and other social media
- taking care of e-mails and feedback by listeners, musicians, labels
- server/database maintenance, to keep it all running nice and smooth....
The most important thing: our listeners! You! Thanks to you this station has become the #1 Ambient & Electronica podcast! As a listener you can help us to keep this podcast up in the air, high above the sky... Of course you already do that by subscribing to the podcast, listening to the music and visiting this site. But you can also support us by clicking the donation button below. Your contribution will make it possible for us to keep the station running; the studio (mics, mixer, hard drives, computer hard/software, backup system) , the servers (hosting, storage), the portable studio.
This year we have bought better software to maintain all of our podcast feeds, we invested in design software to create a better website and to keep things manageable, we also puchased several modules that make navigation and news scrolling easy as pie. This has been possible only because of the contribution made from people like you.
In the coming year we plan to launch a dedicated HD video podcast, to be hosted on fast servers with high percentage uptime. We not only expect it to be an extra dimension, we just know the amount of subcribers will grow by at least 25% because audio+video has become very popular watching on our computers, tablets, mobiles and... TV sets. We hope your support will continue in the future and make these projects possible.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
